Q: Will this bcg fit ANY AR-15 and why should one purchase a “”spare bolt carrier buffer”? If you’re unsure of its functionality or usability then your company should include one with bcg purchase. Seems like the only right thing to do imo.
A: Our BCG will fit any mil-spec AR-15. As for the spare buffer, it has a lifetime replacement warranty if it were to malfunction/mfg defect, etc; however, customers kept requesting they could buy a spare so if something did happen they would have a spare replacement for backup while we replaced this part under warranty. While we have explained to customers we have never had to replace one they still requested a spare for their spare parts tactical box as a "just in case". Having never replaced one carrier buffer in 10 yrs of selling them indicates a pretty good functionality or usability testing. We have some spare buffers with over 20,000 rounds and they still look new, when designing this polymer buffer we used the best materials for this application and it went through rigorous testing.
Q: Sorry if this question has been asked before in FAQ’s.
Is the 5.56 bolt carrier group designed for DI or Piston? I have both.
Also, I have all that I need in the “group” and I am only interested in the enhanced carrier. Will my parts function properly in this Carrier? And lastly, what will be the cost of the enhanced bolt carrier alone? Thank you.
A: Our Enhanced Bolt Carriers and Bolt Carrier Groups we sell through our site are for the Direct Impingement gas systems, we do no sell piston carriers as a standalone product. All of our bolt carriers work with mil-spec bolt carrier small parts. If you are looking for just the Bolt Carrier to add your small bolt carrier parts to you should be looking at this product: https://www.blackriflearms.com/M16-Enhanced-Bolt-Carrier-and-Key-with-Buffer-Technology-_p_20.html
Q: What type of lubricant would you use on your nickel coated bcg's. I just bought one of your new ones and haven't tried it out yet. Thank's, John
A: Any firearm lube will work, the only warning FailZero/UCT gives for their EXO NiB coating is NO ammonia-based products as it can affect the finish.
Q: what modifications would I need to do to use a JP Silent? I have used this set up before on a 7.62x39 and a 5.56 in the past with no issues. Now I see this warning.
A: In order to utilize JP Capture Spring with our BCG one would need to mill out the center of the polymer end piece to allow the JP Capture Spring Rod to clear the polymer to enter the bolt carrier.
Q: Will this BCG work with gas piston systems?
A: NO, these bolt carriers are for direct impingement AR-15 rifles.
If you have a piston system you will need to contact your piston mfg for a replacement bolt carrier as each piston mfg designs their piston to interface with their bolt carrier differently, therefore, gas piston bolt carriers are not interchangeable.
Q: What is the difference between this bcg and the enhanced bcg (part# 201511090023)?
A: The difference is the enhanced BCG not only comes with a Melonite QPQ bolt assembly but a Melonite QPQ cam pin. The non-enhanced comes with a phosphate cam pin. We are in the process of phasing out the phosphate cam pins and once they are gone we will only be offering products the Melonite QPQ cam pins.
